TPU FAQ

How flexible is TPU?

TPU has a Shore hardness of ~95A — similar to a car tire. It bends, stretches, and returns to shape. Not as soft as silicone, but far more flexible than any rigid filament.

Can TPU be used for gaskets?

Yes — TPU is excellent for gaskets, seals, and O-rings. Print at 100% infill for best sealing performance.

Why is TPU more expensive?

TPU requires slower print speeds and specialized extruder setups. The filament itself also costs more than PLA or PETG. The price reflects longer print times.
